Project Overview
Gilbane Development Company set out to build a multifamily community that led with warmth rather than amenity checklists, a place designed to feel like home from the moment a resident arrives. The result is 199 residences centered around comfort, connection, and everyday ease.
Madison Yards surrounds Embra with the infrastructure of a fully realized neighborhood: Whole Foods, dining, retail, office space, and a vibrant public green all within walking distance. The location offered more than convenience, it provided a built-in sense of community that the brand was designed to reflect and extend.
Inspired by the warmth of a supper club atmosphere, Embra pairs cozy, design-forward interiors with amenities crafted for both connection and balance, from the coworking lounge and fitness studio to a private courtyard, outdoor sauna, and charming entertaining spaces designed to facilitate connection.

AFMKTG was brought on as the creative and strategic partner to build Embra's brand from the ground up. The engagement spanned naming through immersion, naming, full visual identity development and copywriting, requiring a brand language that could translate genuine hospitality into every resident touchpoint.
Brand Naming & Positioning
The name Embra was developed to evoke warmth, welcome, and a sense of glowing from within, like the ember on a fire, echoing the supper club atmosphere that inspired the property's design direction. The positioning centered on emotional connection over conventional luxury signifiers, setting Embra apart from the standard multifamily experience in the Madison WI multifamily market.
Visual Identity & Art Direction
AFMKTG developed the full visual identity system for Embra, establishing a design language that felt current and welcoming. Art direction guided the visual tone to feel lived-in, warm, and deeply considered, qualities that carried from the logo through leasing collateral and digital presence.
Copywriting & Messaging Framework
