Project OVerview

CityMark Development set out to create a new residential destination rooted in the architectural character of its San Diego neighborhood. The result is a multi-site community of three distinct buildings designed to feel connected, characterful, and deliberately unlike the conventional apartment complex.

The property's breeze block detailing, mid-century bones, and contemporary interiors called for a brand that could hold both eras with confidence. Dezi was built to be a destination, a place with a point of view.

In a market crowded with generic multifamily brands, Dezi earns its name through design specificity, architectural honesty, and a story worth telling.

AFMKTG's Approach

AFMKTG was brought on to build Dezi's brand from the ground up, from the name through the full visual identity. The engagement required translating the property's architectural personality into a brand language that would resonate with consumers who value design with purpose and a lifestyle that blends comfort with individual expression.

Brand Naming & Positioning

The name Dezi was developed to signal a new destination in the neighborhood, modern and memorable, with a nod to the area's mid-century heritage. The positioning centered on authenticity, creativity, and a story-driven brand experience. 

Visual Identity & Design

AFMKTG developed the full visual identity system for Dezi, including a wordmark and illustrative logomark. The wordmark's slightly tilted letterforms inject personality into a clean, readable typeface, charming without sacrificing sophistication. The logomark draws directly from the property's breeze block detailing and represents Dezi's three sites, celebrating both architectural specificity and the interconnectedness of the community.de
